You’ve probably seen her cat GIF reactions on our House of Wise tweets or her #OOTD posts featuring House of Wise swag. Sarah Fader is a Brooklyn-based mom of two, a mental health author and advocate, a cat lover, and a Wise Woman.

Sarah’s long-time friend and fellow Wise Woman Candice referred Sarah to the HOW community shortly after launch. Since then, she’s been one of our biggest cheerleaders — sharing content, selling products, and hyping up #WiseWomen on Slack and social media.

In the first story in our new series, Wise Woman on the Rise, we are sharing more about the woman behind the fiery red hair and cat-eye glasses.

Sarah’s proudest accomplishments

Besides being an incredible human and cat mom, Sarah is most proud of her work in authoring The CBT Workbook for Mental Health and The 10-Step Depression Relief Workbook, two resources for mental health that she cowrote with Dr. Simon Rego, PsyD.

She’s also the cofounder of the nonprofit organization Stigma Fighters, which raises awareness about and helps people living with mental illness. And people are paying attention. In 2016, Sarah was featured in The Washington Post in an article titled "Unwell and Unashamed" for her mental health advocacy and experiences. The following year, she was featured in The New York Times article "Prozac Nation Is Now the United States of Xanax" for her viral Twitter hashtag, #ThisIsWhatAnxietyFeelsLike. Since then, the hashtag has been used by many individuals who struggle with day-to-day mental health battles.

What she’s working on now

Sarah’s got something exciting up her (t-shirt) sleeves. She’s working with LA-based eco-friendly clothing brand Boredwalk to promote its products and podcast. Want a shirt that embodies your snarky, empowering, or self-deprecating personality? You can use code FADER for 10% off any Boredwalk gear! This t-shirt would pair well with a Stress gummy subscription:

Sarah’s favorite self-care products

“I love House of Wise, and I am so grateful to be a part of this amazing group of women," says Sarah Fader.
